A Brief History:

There are different business wings in poultry industry. Almost all the major wings have their own business associations. Each of the associations deals with issues related to their own specific business. But when some common issues touched the whole industry, the poultry leaders felt the need of an apex body, very badly. As a result of that desires, formation of BPICC was first discussed in 2004 and to address some urgent issues the "Bangladesh Poultry Industries Coordination Committee" (BPICC) was formed in the same year.

Almost a decade, BPICC worked silently. However, in 2014 it appeared with a structured format comprising all the presidents and general secretaries of relevant associations. BPICC justified its presence and could create larger demand among the stakeholders. The central body was renamed as the "Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council (BPICC)" in 2016 shouldering higher responsibilities.   

Mr. Moshiur Rahman, a visionary- a leading poultry investor in Bangladesh, initiated the concept of taking all the poultry related associations under a common umbrella to work for a common goal. Mr. Rahman could foresee the future of poultry business in Bangladesh. At the same time he could realize the need of a stronger platform to face the current & future challenges as well as to raise voices for common interests.

Primarily BPICC was formed with only four associations. However, the devastating floods in 2004, Avian Influenza (AI) outbreak in 2007, the financial losses of the farmers and the breeders, major crash in market price, panic among the consumers about chicken egg & meat and many other factors & challenges push the poultry leaders to think seriously about their community-interests from a wider perspective.

After a series of meetings and consultations, the presidents and secretaries of the leading poultry related associations decided to formally set sail, in November 2014.
