The World's Poultry Science Association Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB) is the Bangladesh chapter of World's Poultry Science Association- the oldest association working on the development on the poultry worldwide since 1912. WPSA-BB has started its operation in July 1997 in Bangladesh. Since inception in 1997, it is continuously running hard to supply all the information about the latest technologies in poultry sector wherever achieved around the World's and brought the updated knowledge at the door step of the poultry farmers. For this reason WPSA-BB is conducting its various works through maintaining the liason with the central office (WPSA, The Netherlands). The poultry sector is an important economic sector with a significant contribution to the economy and creates income generation poverty alleviation and food security of the country. Bangladesh poultry sector has now grown to an extent that it needs more consumers to consume the end products. Thoughtful and planned activities are required to enhance the awareness and motivate 164 million people to consume more eggs and poultry meats to reduce malnutrition with these top quality proteins.

The poultry sector is an important economic sector with a significant contribution to the economy and creates income generation poverty alleviation and food security of the country. The growth rate in commercial poultry sector is 15-20'%' every year, but the growth rate in back-yard poultry is not reasonable. However commercial poultry industry was seriously affected by Avian Influenza in March 2007 and facing great threat to the growing poultry industry. The situation gradually has been improving from 2009 due to various initiatives undertaken by Govt. and other agencies. WPSA-BB has also taken various steps before and after bird flu in collaboration with the Govt. and other agencies to overcome the adverse situation in Bangladesh. Now poultry sector has becoming more dynamic industry by applying innovative knowledge, appropriate technologies and constructive attitude to sustain in this competitive market.
